π Beautiful. Emotional. Honest. Raw.
π§ Listen now and tell me… would YOU want to know the truth?
Chantelle Bee feat. SHYY BEATS — I NEED TO KNOW π€π
relationship uncertainty, emotional distance, and needing honesty from someone you love.
The narrator feels like the relationship has changed. The other person has become colder and more distant, and they're left trying to figure out whether the relationship is still real.
The opening:
“you think its time we needed space”
“you said you wouldnt push me away”
sets up a relationship where one person asked for space, but that space has started feeling like rejection. Instead of bringing clarity, the distance makes the narrator more suspicious and insecure.
Then the repeated “I need to know” becomes the emotional centerpiece of the song. It's basically the narrator saying:
“Stop leaving me guessing. Just tell me what's really happening.”
The line about wondering whether the person's heart beats only for theirs shows that the narrator is questioning whether they're the only person in the relationship.
The more direct line about another woman makes the suspicion even stronger. The narrator isn't necessarily saying they know their partner is cheating—they're asking because they don't have enough information to feel secure.
That's an important distinction.
One of the strongest ideas is:
“silence is all i hear lately”
The problem isn't just potentially another woman. It's the lack of communication.
The narrator would rather hear an uncomfortable truth than continue sitting there wondering.
The lyrics repeatedly question:
Is this love genuine?
Am I the only person you're loving?
Are you pulling away?
Are you hiding something?
Am I wasting my time?
Is this relationship becoming a game?
So the song isn't really just about jealousy. It's about needing reassurance, transparency, and an answer before deciding what to do with the relationship.
I'd describe the song as:
π Romantic uncertainty + jealousy + vulnerability + frustration + the need for truth.
And “I Need to Know” works really well as the title because the entire song revolves around that one unanswered question.
The narrator isn't asking for a perfect relationship—they're asking for the truth, whatever that truth is.
